I’m Gerrit. I’m a writer, philosopher, marketer, ex-advertising exec, ex-chef and ex-istentialist.
I write essays about apricot cocktails, advertising, typewriters, work, philosophy, success, life, washing your hands and social media. That’s the easy bit.
Why I write is a more difficult question to answer.
I write to understand what I think about what’s going on, but mostly to understand what is going on.
And to meet interesting people such as yourself. So, if you would like to connect, you can find me on LinkedIn or Substack.
And I write to get better at writing. Which is why I call the area where I write ‘the gymnasium‘.
Which brings me to you.
I have no idea why you are here or what you expect to find. What you will find is a jumble of thoughts, stories, ideas and experiments. If you read on, I hope you find the thinking worthwhile, the insights thought provoking, and a few of the ideas helpful.
I welcome criticism, insults, abuse and an infrequent compliment if deserved.
And, if you like something you’ve found here don’t be shy, share it.
